PUBLISHER’S SUMMARY: Trumble is a minimum security federal prison, a "camp," home to the usual assortment of relatively harmless criminals - drug dealers, bank robbers, swindlers, embezzlers, tax evaders, two Wall Street crooks, one doctor, and at least five lawyers. And three former judges who call themselves the Brethren: one from Texas, one from California, and one from Mississippi. They meet each day in the law library, their turf at Trumble, where they write briefs, handle cases for other inmates, practice law without a license, and sometimes dispense jailhouse justice. And they spend hours writing letters. They are fine-tuning a mail scam, and it's starting to really work. The money is pouring in. Then their little scam goes awry. It ensnares the wrong victim, a powerful man outside, a man with dangerous friends. The Brethren's days of quietly marking time are over.

MY THOUGHTS: “The Brethren” is another great legal thriller from John Grisham. Grisham is very knowledgeable about the inner workings of the law and government. Those two topics should be stuffy and boring, but Grisham has a way of describing them that makes them intriguing.
It’s no wonder Grisham is so knowledgeable. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law, practiced criminal law for a decade, and also served in the House of Representatives for six years. He has sold more than 250 million books worldwide.
NARRATOR: As I have mentioned before, Frank Muller is one of my very favorite audiobook narrators. It makes me sad that he is no longer with us, but I am glad that he left behind such a great legacy of audiobooks, including quite a few of John Grisham’s novels.
FINAL WORD: This audiobook is a real page-turner, so to speak. John Grisham grabs your attention quickly, and never lets go. I would recommend “The Brethren”, or any John Grisham audiobook, to just about anyone.
