PUBLISHER’S SUMMARY: Schloss Frankenstein is haunted by a monster. Through countless movies and one immortal book, he has stalked its halls and hidden passages. And the Hero has always arisen to protect the Maiden from the Monster's misdirected love.
But Darkness can hide heroes, and monsters can walk in the light.
And sometimes not even the Maiden can tell them apart.
This is a full-cast, soundscaped audio dramatization - a retelling of the Mary Shelley classic.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: The lovely young Elizabeth shows up at the massive and rambling home of her beloved Victor two weeks earlier than planned. One can hardly blame her, she is eager for the two of them to be wed. Victor, however, seems more perturbed than anything at her early arrival. I wonder what Elizabeth would think if she knew that her betrothed was receiving fresh corpses from the local mortician, the corpses of young ladies.
Young Dr. Frankenstein has more secrets it seems. His castle, Schloss Frankenstein, is being haunted by a monster. And this monster is known to victor. Alone in his laboratory, Victor mutters to himself, “I shall keep my end of the bargain, Thing. See to it that you keep yours.” What is Victor Frankenstein’s terrible secret, and what will the early arrival of Elizabeth do to his dark plans?
For those of you who may not have read Mary Shelley’s original Frankenstein, it may surprise you to learn that Dr. Frankenstein’s creation was highly intelligent, nothing at all like the flat-headed, green-skinned, bolt-necked, inarticulate, shambling abomination created by Hollywood. The tragedy of the story is that the world always judged the “monster” by his hideous appearance rather than his intelligent mind or his passionate heart.
I’m happy to say that this dramatic audio production by the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company is drawn from Shelley’s original, rather than the Hollywood mockery. They couldn’t tell the whole story in justone hour of course, but I think they did a reasonably good job of it. This re-telling focuses primarily on the part of the story where Frankenstein’s creation is demanding that the doctor create a female for him, to ease his intense loneliness and desire for companionship. Some liberties were taken with the story, but again I think they did a pretty good job of it.
The Passion of Frankenstein is a full cast audio production complete with music and sound effects, Featuring the voices of Keith Hartman as Victor, Karen Barrett as Elizabeth, Dena Friedman as Constanza, Ron N. Butler as Henry, Doug Kaye as Meyer, and David Benedict as the Monster. The cast members did a good job, and the music and sound were quite good. I especially liked the use of the pipe organ in the climactic scenes. Very old school.
The Passion of Frankenstein is the perfect audio for the Halloween season. Check it out!
