-----Movie Review #1-----

Title: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint
Narrator: Di Langstrom
Running time: 152 minutes
Released in: 2001
Genre:

When Harry Potter was just a baby, his parents were killed by the most evil wizard that ever lived, Lord Voldemorte. Little Harry was subsequently sent to live with his aunt and uncle. Vernon and Petunia, not approving of that sort of thing, raised Harry without ever letting on that his parents were magical, or that there was any such thing as magic in the world. The whole family got a big surprise on Harry’s eleventh birthday, when twelve-foot-tall Hagrid showed up to take Harry to Hogwarts School of Witch and Wizardry.
Harry makes friends quickly at Hogwarts, most notably Ron Weesley and Hermione Grainger, and the three of them waste no time getting into trouble. It seems that an extremely powerful magical object is hidden inside Hogwarts castle, and someone is trying to steal it. It also seems likely that the person trying to steal the object is none other than Lord Voldemorte himself. Grownups never believe anything kids say, so it will be up to Harry, Ron, and Hermione to find the object and protect it before Voldemorte can get his scaly hands on it.
The Harry Potter books have been among my very favorites since the first time I read them, almost five years ago. Movies very rarely measure up to a book, especially a great book, but Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone wasn’t too bad. If you haven’t read the book, though, you’re going to miss a lot of what’s going on in this movie.
Directed by Chris Columbus, and with yet another fabulous musical score by John Williams, it’s no wonder these films are among the highest grossing films of all time. This one earned $974 million.

Movie Review #2-----

Title: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint
Narrator: Di Langstrom
Running time: 161 minutes
Released in: 2002
Genre: fantasy
Filed in: Movie reviews

Harry, Ron, and Hermione are entering their second year at Hogwarts School of Witch and Wizardry, and just like last year, the trio wastes no time finding trouble.
There is a monster on the loose in Hogwarts Castle, and it is hunting mud-bloods, magical people born of non-magical parents. The monster is rumoured to have come from the chamber of secrets, an unknown, hidden room in the castle that can only be opened by the heir of Salazar Slitherin, founder of Slitherin house. And it’s just Harry’s luck that most of the students at Hogwarts believe Harry to be that heir. When it is discovered that Harry is a parcel-tongue, a wizard with the rare ability to speak to snakes, his fate is all but sealed.
But Harry’s friends remain faithful, and in order to clear Harry’s name, the three adventurers will have to find the chamber of secrets, and destroy the beast that lurks within. Can a trio of second-year students conjur up enough magic to do all that?
This second film in the Harry Potter series wasn’t bad. Not nearly as good as the book, but not bad. Like the first film in the series, this one earned a whopping sum at the box office, $878 million.
