PUBLISHER’S SUMMARY:
Dear Listener,
You are presumably looking here for clues to the shocking conclusion of this terminal audiobook, or the ending of the end. The end of the end is the best place to begin the end, because if you listen to the end from the beginning of the beginning of the end to the end of the end of the end, you will arrive at the end of the end of your rope. This audiobook is the last in A Series of Unfortunate Events, and even if you braved the previous 12 volumes, you probably can't stand such unpleasantries as a fearsome storm, a suspicious beverage, a herd of wild sheep, an enormous bird cage, and a truly haunting secret about the Baudelaire parents.
It has been my solemn occupation to complete the history of the Baudelaire orphans, and at last I am finished. You likely have some other occupation, so if I were you, I would click away from this page at once, so the end does not finish you.
With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

DEDICATION: For Beatrice: I cherished, you perished. The world’s been nightmarished.

MY TAKE ON IT: And this is how it all ends. After escaping the burning Hotel DeNouement, the Baudelaire orphans and Count Olaf sail out to sea. Par for the unlucky course, their small boat is caught in a terrible storm, and the four are washed up on the shore of an island. It is upon this small island that the Baudelaire’s reach the end, or depending on how you look at it, the beginning, of their unlucky tale.
I can honestly say that the ending of “The End” surprised me. I’m so tempted to tell you what happened, but I’m not going to. I will tell you this, however. During their stay on the island, the Baudelaire’s are presented with an interesting choice. They can go back to the world that has treated them so badly, or stay on the island forever. I wonder what I would do in that situation.

LEMONY SNIPPET: If you have ever peeled an onion, then you know that the first thin, papery layer reveals another thin, papery layer, and that layer reveals another, and another, and before you know it you have hundreds of layers all over the kitchen table, and thousands of tears in your eyes, sorry that you ever started peeling in the first place, and wishing that you had left the onion alone to wither away on the shelf of the pantry while you went on with your life, even if that meant never again enjoying the complicated and overwhelming taste of this strange and bitter vegetable.

NARRATOR: There’s not much else I can say about Tim Curry. He did a great job on “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” He made me laugh several times with his silly voices.

FINAL WORD: This was a fun series of audiobooks. I enjoyed it a lot, and learned a few things in the process. What more could you ask from a series of audiobooks? These are good audiobooks for kids.
