MY THOUGHTS: “The Tombs of Atuan” is the second audiobook in Ursula K LeGuin’s EarthSea series. This audiobook is not a direct continuation of the first EarthSea installment, “A Wizard of EarthSea”, and works well as a stand-alone if you’re not interested in reading the whole series. There is one common character, however, in Ged the wizard, who was the main character of the first audiobook.

To tell you the truth, I got a little bored with “The Tombs of Atuan.” I mentioned before that fantasy audiobooks are not my favorites. I still pick one up now and then, however, because you just never know when you’ll come across something that you really like. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you never read outside your favorite genre, you’re going to miss out on a lot of good fiction..

NARRATOR: Rob Inglis narrated a lot of fantasy audiobooks, including J R R Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” series. There is surprisingly little information about Rob Inglis available on the internet but I’m guessing he has had training in classical theatre. He has a fantastic reading voice and I like his British accent.

FINAL WORD: Hey, don’t take my word for it, check out “The Tombs of Atuan” for yourself. If you like fantasy audiobooks, you’ll no doubt enjoy this one.

  1. I think after reading Tolkien, all other fantasy books pale in comparison.

Who needs fantasy anyway when there is enough of it in our reality? ;)
